Block of the Month Quilt 2009

Welcome to the 2009 Village Green Quilters' Block of the Month quilt! Over the next 11 months we shall be giving you the instructions for 9 different 'star' blocks as well as ideas for layouts and borders. Hopefully if you sew along with us there will be lots of finished quilts for the Christmas 'show & tell' in December 2009!

Each star block measures 12 inches finished (that means 12 ½ inches unfinished) and with additional sashing and borders the finished quilt will be approximately 58 inches square. You will need approximately 5 metres of fabric in total for the quilt top; however you may need more depending on how you set the blocks. You may find that it would be useful to have some ½ metre or metre lengths for sashings and borders.

Whether you chose to use coordinating fabrics, hand dyes, country style, scrappy or just simply use whatever comes to hand in an attempt to 'stash bust' the choice is yours; you may find that you need to go shopping for (more) fabric in the sales!

We hope that you will enjoy this monthly challenge,

Come sew along with us!

PS: Don't forget to bring your finished blocks along to the monthly meetings, a useful deadline for you and a challenge for the rest of us!
